چکیده

Role is very important in ontology engineering. Although OWL has been available for ontology representation, consideration about roles is not enough. It can cause to decrease semantic interoperability of ontologies because of conceptual gaps between OWL and developers. To overcome this difficulty, this paper presents some consideration for dealing with roles using OWL.

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)

Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...

An Automated Transformation from OntoUML to OWL and SWRL

OntoUML and OWL are ontology languages appropriated to different knowledge representation levels. In order to have better knowledge representation and reasoning capabilities in OWL ontologies, an Ontology Engineering should be used – which corresponds to the transformation of a conceptual model ontology language, such as OntoUML, to a computational ontology language, such as OWL. This paper aim...

Using SWRL and OWL to Capture Domain Knowledge for a Situation Awareness Application Applied to a Supply Logistics Scenario

When developing situation awareness applications we begin by constructing an OWL ontology to capture a language of discourse for the domain of interest. Such an ontology, however, is never sufficient for fully representing the complex knowledge needed to identify what is happening in an evolving situation – this usually requires general implication afforded by a rule language such as SWRL. This...

Reasoning support for Semantic Web ontology family languages using Alloy

Semantic Web (SW), commonly regarded as the next generation of the Web, is an emerging vision of the new Web from the Knowledge Representation and the Web communities. To realize this vision, a series of techniques has been proposed. Semantic Web Ontology Langauge (OWL) and its extension Semantic Web rule Language (SWRL) and Semantic Web Logic Language (SWRL-FOL) are some of the most important ...

OWL rules: A proposal and prototype implementation

Although the OWL Web Ontology Language adds considerable expressive power to the Semantic Web it does have expressive limitations, particularly with respect to what can be said about properties. We present SWRL (the Semantic Web Rules Language), a Horn clause rules extension to OWL that overcomes many of these limitations. SWRL extends OWL in a syntactically and semantically coherent manner: th...
